The largest part of your budget for fish supplies will likely go toward your aquarium. You need to keep your aquarium clean and the water fresh for your fish. Therefore, you will need air pumps, electrical supplies and plumbing parts.

However, if that seems like too much to spend on fish supplies, start out with a goldfish and a bowl. You will still need cleaning equipment, but the majority of your budget will go toward fish food. There are several kinds on the market: flakes, pellets and even appetite enhancers.

There are even fish supplies if your fish get sick. For example, fluke-towns eliminate annoying parasites. There are also medications to treat bacterial infections. Medicine for fish can be costly and range from $30 to over $100.
